The Guinness Record for the world’s largest hammock was set on Wednesday in Jersey City, New Jersey with the help of actress Malin Akerman.
The hammock measured 65 feet long by 31 feet wide, more than 10 times the size of a normal-sized hammock, and could fit 170 people lying head to head.
Akerman, who sported a red strappy summer dress, said she’s had a fondness for record-breaking from a young age.

“I’ve always been a big fan of the Guinness Book of World Records. As a child, I remember rifling through it and all these exciting things you never knew existed or happened.”
One of the actress’s latest projects is upcoming film “The Final Girls” – which, she admits, is a little difficult to describe.
“It’s one of those crazy, cross-breeds of a little bit of every genre,” Akerman explains.
“There’s horror and comedy and heartfelt sort of tear-at-your-heartstring moments and very grounded relationships and coming of age stories. I mean, it’s everything. It’s very difficult to put it into a nutshell and explain what it’s about because it’s a movie within a movie and it’s in commentary in the movie that they’re in. You know so it’s something that we’ve never seen before,” she said.
“The Final Girls,” co-starring Taissa Farmiga and Nina Dobrev, is set for release on October 9.
The hammock event was also used to the launch of new mobile game “Paradise Bay,” from the creator of “Candy Crush.”
