CALGARY – Transit users can ride with pride along a colourful commute on board the Rainbow Pride Bus. The bus will stop along various routes, leading up to the Pride Parade Festival on Sept. 6, 2015.
It’s all part of the Ride With Pride campaign for Calgary Pride, in partnership with Calgary Transit and Pattison Outdoor to promote equality and acceptance of Calgary’s LGBTQA+ community.
“We are excited to partner with Calgary Transit on this unique way to bring awareness to the event,” said Calgary Pride director of government affairs Craig Sklenar.
The public can find specific routes via social media, it will also make an appearance along the parade route.
“We are part of Calgary,” said Calgary transit director Doug Morgan. “We just want to celebrate our customers and that our doors are always open to everyone.”
The Calgary Pride Festival celebrates its 25th anniversary this year and expects to be the biggest yet with more than 60,000 people set to attend.
The festival runs from Aug. 28 to Sept. 7. The Pride Parade begins at 12 p.m. on Sept. 6.
