WINNIPEG – A confused driver made it all the way on to the runway at Brandon’s airport before being stopped and escorted away by airport staff.
The incident on August 20th at the Brandon Municipal Airport is detailed in an incident report on Transport Canada’s website.
Staff saw the car driving on one taxiway, across the aircraft parking area and onto another taxiway before proceeding on the airport’s only runway.

“Airport Authority advised that the elderly driver accidentally made it onto the field trying to get into the city and became confused once on the field,” the report says.
The car was safely escorted off the field and there was no impact on airport operations.
