UPDATE: Charges laid after man shot with high-powered rifle

FORT QU’APPELLE, Sask. – A man was recovering in hospital this weekend after being shot with a high powered rifle just south of Fort Qu’Appelle around 11:30 p.m. Friday.

A domestic incident earlier in the evening allegedly led to the shooting, which sent the victim to hospital in Regina with a non-life threatening injury.

Richard Maier of Fort Qu’Appelle has been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon, among other charges. He’s been remanded into custody to appear in court on Monday.

RCMP say the suspect and the victim are related. The investigation is ongoing.
