Federal Election 2015: Thunder Bay-Superior North riding results

Real time live results available on Monday, October 19 2015 after polls close. Overall results will be available here.

Summary: This is a riding to watch. MP Bruce Hyer was elected as an NDP  member in 2008 and 2011. He broke party lines to vote in favour of abolishing the gun registry, and later left the party to sit as an independent in 2012. He joined the Green Party in 2013 and is running for re-election under the Green banner.

Boundaries: This riding is in the central part of northern Ontario, and includes the north half of the city of Thunder Bay. Minor boundary changes added a small area in the southeast corner of the riding.

Last Election: Bruce Hyer, running for the NDP, won with 49.9 per cent of the vote, with Conservative Richard Harvey coming in second with 29.7 per cent. Harvey is running again in 2015.

History: Notably, the previous MP in this riding was a floor crosser as well. Joe Comuzzi was elected six times as a Liberal. He was expelled from caucus in 2007 for pledging to support the Conservative budget, and later joined the Conservative party. He did not seek re-election. Voters in this riding have not elected a PC or Conservative member since the riding was created in 1979.
