Last Election: Nicholson defeated NDP candidate Heather Kelley by 29.7 per cent, his highest margin of victory yet.
History: Prior to Nicholson’s election in 2004, the riding had gone back and forth between the Liberals and the Progressive Conservatives since the 1970s, with neither party holding it for more than three terms at a time. Nicholson first represented this riding as a Progressive Conservative from 1984 until 1993, going down to defeat in the year the party only won two seats in the entire country.

Demographics: 24,830 seniors lived in this riding as of the 2011 census, the highest number in Ontario.
