CALGARY – Learning by taking reasonable risks is all part of the fun at a new play area in Calgary.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

The TELUS Spark Science Centre unveiled an expansion to its “Brainasium” outdoor play zone on Aug. 4.

Among the new features is a log structure that stretches 30 metres.

Kids can challenge themselves by climbing its length, with parents secure in the knowledge there’s rope netting below the logs to catch anyone who falls.

The Brainasium zone is open year-round, included with admission to the science centre.

You can also visit the play area every Wednesday evening in August, with a $7 admission fee.
