Norm Kelly a big winner in Twitter Battle of Toronto

WATCH ABOVE: Councillor Norm Kelly has gotten a lot of attention after getting involved in Canadian rapper Drake and Meek Mills Twitter feud. But it doesn’t stop there: Kelly has a growing list of followers, over 82 thousand.

TORONTO – Toronto councillor Norm Kelly is one of the most prolific Twitter users in the city. But how does he stack up against the world of Toronto politics?

Mayor John Tory’s following falls short of Kelly’s growing fanbase, with 66,000 followers.

But no one can beat the mammoth following of councillor (and former Mayor) Rob Ford. Ford has a following of over 196,000 people which is more than double Kelly’s following.

To reach the equivalent of Ford’s massive following, some councillors Twitter fan base have been doubled.

Kelly, the 73-year-old councillor and Drake-fan, quickly became a Twitter guru, racking up 136,000 retweets after coming to the Canadian rapper’s defence against American rapper Meek Mill.

Kelly has more than 82,000 followers, a list that continues to grow.

Kelly’s followers equal a combined amount of 21 city councillors Twitter followers, who include Councillors Denzil Minnan-Wong (6,679 followers) and Jaye Robinson (4,749 followers).

However, there are some city councillors who fail in the social media department.

Councillors who don’t have Twitter include Giorgio Mammoliti, Glenn De Baeremaeker, David Shiner and Cesar Palacio.
