RCMP arrest St. Andrews man after shooting

MONCTON – RCMP arrested a man in St. Andrews Sunday after an incident involving a firearm.

West District RCMP say they responded to a call of a shooting at approximately 2:30 p.m. on the south end of Water Street in St. Andrews.

They arrested a man without incident about half an hour later. The south end of Water Street was temporarily cordoned off during that time.

The man was taken into custody and then released.

“The initial investigation indicates the firearm was discharged to a shoot a wild animal that had reportedly attacked a neighbour’s dog,” West District RCMP said in a statement.

Police are reminding the public to call animal control officials, if they are dealing with issues regarding wildlife in their neighbourhood.
