UPDATE: Escaped inmate arrested by Prince Albert police

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. – A search is on for an escaped convict. Officials with Correctional Service of Canada say an inmate from the minimum security unit has escaped from the Saskatchewan Penitentiary.

Lawrence Sewap, 35, was discovered missing during the 4:30 p.m. count.

He is six-foot, 168 pounds with a medium complexion, brown eyes and brown hair and tattoos on both his arms. A picture was not available.

Sewap was serving a three year, nine month sentence for aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unlawfully at large and obstructing a peace officer.

Prince Albert RCMP have been notified and a warrant has been issued for Sewap’s arrest.
