DRUMMONDVILLE – Three people have died and eight people are injured after a major fire broke out Wednesday night in an apartment building in Drummondville.
Two of the victims have been identified as Marcel Roy, 66 and Stephane Vincent, 46, both residents of the building.
Coroners are working to identify the third victim.
The fire started around 12:45 a.m.

The three-storey building has about 30 apartments and is situated on des Merisiers Avenue near Saint-Joseph Boulevard.
The cause of the fire is not known, but it is believed to have started on the second floor.

Firefighters rescued several residents who were trapped on their balconies by the intense flames, but the back of the building collapsed, making it difficult to access others.
Firefighters gained control of the blaze shortly before 6 a.m.
The building is a complete loss.
