Two suspects have been arrested by Vancouver police after a region-wide series of 34 bank robberies late last year.

Duane Robert Burd, 39, and Timothy Peter Everett, 30, have been apprehended after a meticulous investigation involving Vancouver and New Westminster police departments as well as five area RCMP detachments.

The robberies occurred between October 11 and December 20 and involved banks in Vancouver, North Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, Langley, Coquitlam and Maple Ridge.

Investigators recognized a pattern in the robberies that led them to believe that two or more people were at work.

Police say the suspects sometimes carried out two robberies in one day and a new robbery at a rate of approximately every two and a half days.

The two suspects were not known to police, making their identifications difficult.

Duane Robert Burd has been charged with 20 counts of robbery, along with six counts of using an imitation firearm during the commission of an offence.

Timothy Peter Everett has been charged with 11 counts of robbery, along with three counts of using an imitation firearm during the commission of an offence. Mr. Everett is also facing charges of theft and assault in relation to a shoplifting in New Westminster and another assault in New Westminster where the victim was his girlfriend at the time.
