TORONTO — Brad Smith, former CFL player and one-time star of The Bachelor Canada, was named the new host of Chopped Canada on Tuesday.
The 31-year-old takes over the Food Network Canada competition series from Dean McDermott for the upcoming third season.
Cameras are currently rolling on new episodes, including a Chopped Canada Teen Tournament and a food truck showdown.
“I’m beyond thrilled to be joining Chopped Canada and to work alongside such an esteemed roster of celebrity chefs,” said Smith, in a release. “I’m an avid viewer of Food Network and I’m excited to take my career to new heights.

The son of Senator Larry Smith, Brad Smith played for the Edmonton Eskimos and Toronto Argonauts before moving to TV. After The Bachelor Canada he became an entertainment reporter for Toronto’s City.
Chopped Canada is adding celebrity chef Mark McEwan as a judge this season. He will join returning judges Lynn Crawford, John Higgins, Antonio Park, Anne Yarymowich, Eden Grinshpan, Massimo Capra, Michael Smith, Susur Lee, and Roger Mooking.
Each episode of Chopped Canada has four chefs competing for $10,000. Season 3 debuts later this year.
