VERNON – One of the Vernon arsonists has been sentenced and the other will learn his fate in July.
Donovan Shipmaker and Sean Bibby both admitted to setting a fire behind a pet store late on the night of May 29th last year.
They pleaded guilty to arson damaging property.
Surveillance camera images lead to the arrest of the two men.
It showed one of them lighting recycling materials.
The flames were spotted by a passing taxi driver.
Bibby received a suspended sentence with 18 months probation and a $200 victim surcharge fine.
Shipmaker is scheduled for sentencing in July.
RCMP don’t believe the two men are connected to a rash of other arson fires in the Vernon area around the same time.
