Firefighters reported flames could be seen from the back of the building and heavy black smoke coming from both floors of the entire building. By 4 a.m. the roof and second story of the building collapsed.
Fifteen firefighters from Keremeos as well as four from Kaleden battled the blaze for a few hours. An excavator was brought in to help with suppression efforts. There were no injuries reported.
The restaurant, called the Riverbed Bistro, is located across the street from the fire hall.
