Female rugby player breaks nose, stays in game to make a huge play

TORONTO – For anyone who thinks athletes these days are “too soft”: may we present Lindenwood University’s Georgia Page.

The sophomore centre at the Missouri school has become a viral sensation after video surfaced of her suffering a nasty broken nose during a game against Notre Dame college this past Saturday.

The injury was most likely caused by a collision with one of her teammates during a tackle, and for a moment she lay on the field, clutching her face.

But instead of coming off the pitch, she got up to make two huge tackles – even as blood was streaming from her broken nose.

The video was posted to the USA Sevens Rugby Facebook page and quickly went viral, with nearly 4,000 shares as of this writing.

Many have praised Page’s toughness and heart in the face of what is a pretty gruesome injury.

USA Sevens Rugby tweeted out a picture of Page after the match, clearly showing the effects of both the match and the broken nose.

Oh and for the record: Lindenwood overcame a 17-12 deficit in the final minutes of the game to claim victory. Because of course they did.

And just in case you needed any further proof that Page, an Australian native who attended high school in Colorado, was a tough cookie…check out this highlight once she ran off the field.
Like much of this story, it may not be for the weak of stomach.
