TORONTO – Toronto police announced the execution of more than 50 search warrants across the Greater Toronto Area Thursday morning as part of a guns and gangs investigation titled Project Pharaoh.
Police said at least 60 suspects have been arrested as a result of the pre-dawn raids which took place from the GTA through to the St. Catherines area.
The street gang “Monstarz” was the prime target of the probe.
More than 700 officers took part in the operation which resulted in the seizure of firearms, currency, 34 kilograms of cocaine and vehicles from proceeds of crime, police said.
The allegation involved firearm trafficking and drug trafficking.
Police say more information about the operation will be unveiled during a Friday morning press conference.
