TORONTO — Fuller House got fuller Thursday with the news that Bob Saget has signed on to reprise his role as Danny Tanner.

The Full House spin-off series, scheduled to debut next year on Netflix, will now reunite all the original cast members except Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen (who shared the role of Michelle Tanner).

Saget was the patriarch of the Tanner family on Full House, which ran for eight seasons beginning in 1987.

The 59-year-old was more recently the narrator for nine seasons of How I Met Your Mother.

John Stamos celebrated Saget’s involvement on Twitter.

Fuller House will focus on recently widowed DJ Tanner (Candace Cameron Bure) as she tries to raise her three children with the help of her sister Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and best friend Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber).

“We’re not redoing Full House and it’s not a reunion show,” Bure explained recently.

The original stars will appear on the first episode,” she said, and “after that it really is a brand new show.”
