HALIFAX – Police have charged a man accused of stealing a blind woman’s purse in Halifax earlier this month.

The woman was shopping at Pete’s Frootique in downtown Halifax on May 1 when a man stole her purse as she was busy looking at items. The purse was later found in a nearby garbage can and the woman’s money had been taken from it.

Police arrested a 43-year-old man on Monday and charged him with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen goods under $5,000 and breach of probation.

He will appear in court on June 30.
