TORONTO — George Clooney is fielding plenty of questions about his marriage while out promoting his made-in-Canada fantasy flick Tomorrowland.

The 54-year-old actor, who waited more than 20 years to get married for a second time, tied the knot with lawyer Amal Alamuddin last September.

“It’s been pretty great,” Clooney told ET Canada in an interview airing Monday. “I’m very lucky and I’m very happy. We have a really fun time.

“I’m very proud of the things that she does in the world and also proud of who she is. It’s been a really exciting, fun time.”

Clooney also gushed about his wife to the U.S. edition of ET.

“She’s an amazing human being,” he said. “And she’s caring. And she also happens to be one of the smartest people I’ve ever met. And she’s got a great sense of humour.”

Clooney told People marrying Alamuddin “changed everything” about how he saw his future.

“I wasn’t always completely optimistic about how it was going to work out personally for me,” he said. “But now I am.”

Clooney had a string of high-profile romances following his split from actress Talia Balsam after four years of marriage.

The actor-director has consistently dodged questions about starting a family.

ET Canada‘s Sangita Patel gave it a shot.

“In the future,” she asked Clooney, “when you have kids, will you let them see this film?”

Clooney laughed. “It was nice how (you) did that. That was good.

“You didn’t even take a slow turn, you went right into it.”

Tomorrowland opens May 22.

ET and ET Canada air weeknights on Global.
