Alcohol suspected in fatal rollover on Okanese First Nation

REGINA – A 20-year-old man is dead after being thrown from a vehicle on the Okanese First Nation, 14 kilometers northwest of Balcarres.

The man was a passenger in the vehicle when it rolled, late Saturday afternoon. Two other passengers were brought to hospitals in Regina and Fort Qu’Appelle with non-life threatening injuries.

A fourth passenger left the scene before the File Hills First Nations Police Service arrived, but was later found.

Police said alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the rollover.

The victim’s name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

RCMP officers are helping with the investigation and they expect to lay charges in connection with the collision.
