VANCOUVER – Imperial Metals Corp. (TSX:III) says the board of its of Huckleberry Mines Ltd. joint venture has approved an expansion plan to extend the life of the B.C. copper mine to 2021.
Imperial said Tuesday the seven-year mine extension will preserve 230 full time and 30 contract jobs and create 70 new positions.

The 14-year-old mine is located near Houston, B.C. and produces copper, molybdenum, gold and silver.
Imperial Metals owns 50 per cent of Huckleberry Mines. The remaining 50 per cent is held by a Jaoanese group made up of Mitsubishi Materials Corp., Marubeni Corp., Dowa Mining Co. Ltd. and Furukawa Co.

In addition to its stake in the Huckleberry mine, Imperial also owns and operates the Mount Polley open pit copper-gold mine near Williams Lake, B.C. and us developing the Red Chris copper-gold property in B.C. and the Sterling gold property in Nevada.
