WINNIPEG – Playoff fever is in the air and fans are just getting started with the Winnipeg Whiteout.
“This party’s not going to stop… until we hoist the cup,” said Jets fan Joel Gagnon.
Downtown bars are already seeing a steady increase in customers coming in to watch hockey for hours at a time. Many are adding more staff and planning numerous post season parties.

“We’re going to have tons of DJs on both floors… home or away, we’re going to do it,” said The Pint manager Melissa Ross. “After the game people will come and dance the night away.”
Restaurants like Carbone’s are starting to host street hockey events while featuring Whiteout-themed pizza and drinks.
Once playoffs begin, downtown Winnipeg will be packed with fans from all over the city meaning many businesses will thrive.
“Doing some shopping at the local retailer when they’re here, they’re going to have a unique experience… and our city is going to be better for it,” said Sachit Mehra, chair of Downtown Winnipeg BIZ.
The Jets played their last regular season game Saturday against Calgary. Playoffs are set to start next week.
