TORONTO — Celebrity astrophysicist Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson debuts his new series StarTalk next month on the National Geographic Channel.

It’s the first talk show ever on the specialty channel, which in Canada is part of Shaw Media (parent company of Global News).

Premiering April 20 at 11pm, the hour-long weekly show brings together both kinds of stars — the ones in space and the ones in pop culture.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Appearing in each episode is Bill Nye the Science Guy.

The series is based on Tyson’s popular radio show and podcast of the same name. In a release, he said the series “offers a unique opportunity to show viewers how pervasive science is in our culture and how entertaining science can be.

“Throughout the show we explore current issues with top industry leaders and pair that with comical, but informed, commentary. From politicians and actors to scientists, social activists and more, the impact of science knows no bounds.”
