It’s going to get more difficult for under age drinkers to buy booze or get into bars in Manitoba, starting in the New Year.
Young adults will be expected to produce photo identification starting January 1st, according to a news release Friday, the Manitoba Liquor Control Commission.

The move is meant to “deter minors from purchasing beverage alcohol or gaining access to age-restricted premises,” the MLCC says.
The rules will require ID from Manitoba Public Insurance, including driver’s licence, enhanced driver’s licence, identification card, enhanced identification card, or alternatively, two Government-issued pieces of identification, one of which must be a photo ID.
The amendments to Manitoba’s Liquor Control Act will also make it an offence for an adult to provide ID to a minor to buy booze or get into a bar.
