REGINA – Poutine not only comes to the rescue of our taste buds, but Saturday the fries were helping get teddy bears into the arms of sick children.

Coney Island Cafe was donating $1 of every poutine sale to Teddy Bears Anonymous.

The charity is struggling to raise enough funds to buy more specially-made bears, which need to be sterile enough to go into operating rooms.

“It’s important for us because we depend on the locals to come in and keep us going so we want to give back to the community as well to bring in this support,” said Jamie Findlay, general manager of the cafe.

The goal is to raise $1,000.
