The officers attempted to stop the vehicle but it drove off into a nearby wooded area. RCMP followed the suspect vehicle until it got stuck in rough terrain. Officers approached the vehicle with their service pistols drawn, RCMP said.

As the officers approached the vehicle, the male suspect got out of the car. When he abruptly reached back into the vehicle to grab something an RCMP member fired one shot. The suspect was not hit.

A 27-year-old man is now facing several criminal charges in relation to the incident. His name is not being released at this time.
