CALGARY – Penguins at the Calgary Zoo will once again be partaking in a daily parade through the facility.

The zoo’s popular Penguin Walk returns on Saturday, January 17th at 11 a.m.

The king penguins will be strutting their stuff along a different, longer route than last year, which officials say is helpful.

“Providing our king penguins with a daily walk through the zoo grounds is beneficial to their welfare,” says Curator Dr. Malu Celli.

The birds will begin their public walks in front of the Penguin Plunge and continue down to the bridge before looping back up to their habitat.

“King penguins are known to travel up to 30 kilometers in the wild to reach open water, this walk represents a positive enrichment tool for them during the day,” adds Celli.

Caesar, Arthur, Solomon, Tut, Diana, Grace and Hera will be making the walk every day at 11 a.m.,

However, the walks are dependent on the birds’ desire and could be cancelled if the weather drops below -25°C.
