SASKATOON – Bob Woods and his wife Peggy were trying to find the energy to clear their sidewalk when they heard the sound of a snow blower.
“Twice last month, Glenn appeared with his snow blower and cleared our drive and sidewalk after a heavy snow fall,” recalled Bob.
“My wife and I were both times sitting after breakfast trying to raise the energy and determination to do the job ourselves; the sound of the snow blower was both music to our ears and a relief.”
That generosity by Glenn Hussey made an impact on the Woods and they nominated him for the City of Saskatoon “Snow Angel” designation. On Tuesday, the city honoured Hussey with December’s award.

“When there’s a big snow and I’m not particularly interested in shovelling the walk by hand, so I get my snow blower out and I assume that Bob’s not that interested either, so I’ll do his yard as well as mine,” explained Hussey as to why he lends a hand.
“I do some of the other neighbours as well … if I have time, I’ll do as many of the other neighbours as possible.”

That spirit, said Mayor Don Atchison, is one of the many reasons why Saskatoon is a great place to live.
“Saskatoon is a city full of wonderful people who help each other out; the Snow Angel program embodies the spirit of being good neighbours, which is something we take pride in,” said Atchison. “Glenn is just one of hundreds of incredible citizens nominated as a Snow Angel each winter, lending a hand to make Saskatoon a great place to live.”
With the recognition, Hussey received a card from the mayor, a special gift and has been entered to win a one-month pass to a civic leisure centre.
“Snow Angels” can be nominated online or by mailing their name and address to: Public Works, City of Saskatoon, 222 – 3rd Avenue North, S7K 0J5. Everyone nominated will received a thank you card signed by the mayor and will be entered into a draw to win a one-month family pass to any civic leisure centre.
