MONTREAL – Most Canadians know astronaut Chris Hadfield as the first Canadian to walk in space, but his life doesn’t just revolve around zero gravity – the Canadian icon shared a few fun facts about himself when he passed by the Global Montreal Morning News.

1. His childhood dream is to walk on the moon, which makes sense since his childhood hero is Neil Armstrong!

Hadfield photographed some of his favourite cities during his five month tour in outer space with the International Space Station.

He compiled almost 200 never-before-seen photos of the Earth in his new book, “You are here: Around the world in 92 minutes.”

4. He wishes he had more time to spend with his family.

He says he would do anything to relax, play Scrabble and eat butter tarts with his family at their chalet.

“My Mum makes the best butter tarts,” he said.

“Look at her, she’s amazing,” he told Global News. “She can play anyone – I definitely want her to play me.”
