TORONTO – York Regional Police are seeking the public’s help identifying a distraction theft suspect recorded on video in Vaughan.
Police say the female victim was approach by a woman on her driveway in the Via Campanile and La Rocco Avenue area shortly after noon on Oct. 1.
The suspect then appeared to engage in a conversation with the victim, placed a necklace around her neck, and proceeded to remove a different piece of jewellery the person had been wearing.

The suspect is then seen walking away and into a white four-door Jeep Wrangler.
Police say there have been over 35 similar distraction-style thefts in Vaughan so far this year.
Meanwhile, authorities are warning residents to be cautious when engaging in conversations with strangers.
People are also being reminded to conceal valuable jewellery while in public.
Anyone with information about the suspect is urged to contact police.
