TORONTO — Want to go on a date with an Olympic medalist and an Oscar-winning screenwriter? It could cost you as little as $10.
Diver Tom Daley, twice voted Britain’s sexiest man, and his partner Dustin Lance Black, who penned 2008’s Milk, are raffling off a VIP trip to London to join the couple “for the greatest double date ever.”
The winner and a guest will fly to London and watch Daley at a diving practice before taking a tour of the city, including a ride on the London Eye and High Tea at The Ritz. Then, they will experience a professional makeover before sitting down for dinner with Daley and Black at one of the city’s finest restaurants.
“And to top it all off, we’ll take you to some of our favourite spots in town,” Daley promises in a video message.
The double-date is being offered through online charity site Omaze. Donation amounts range from $10 to $25,000 and come with rewards that include swimsuits signed by Daley, copies of the Milk script signed by Black, and a Skype video chat with the couple.
The contest runs until Dec. 12.
Daley, 20, and Black, 40, are raising funds to support two causes that are close to their hearts: The Brain Tumour Charity (Daley’s father died of a tumour in 2011) and the Human Rights Campaign’s Project One America (Black’s brother lost a battle with cancer in 2012).
“I lost my gay big brother, who lived in Virginia,” explains Black in the video, “and I had made him a promise before he left us that we’d see equality in the state he loved.”
Funds raised will be split evenly between the two charities.
Daley won gold at the World Championships in 2009 and three gold medals and one silver at the Commonwealth Games in 2010 and 2014. He earned a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
Daley and Black have been together for about a year.
