TORONTO — Olympic diver Tom Daley has been voted the year’s sexiest man in the world by readers of Britain’s Attitude magazine — for the second year in a row.
The 20-year-old medal winner, who came out as gay late last year, said the honour “means the world.”
Daley told Attitude he hopes his decision to talk publicly about his sexuality “helped anyone going through something similar.”
He added: “I don’t think it should be news. But I also understand that it is still news. We live in a society that is far more accepting than it was five or 10 years ago, but we’ve still got a way to go before people no longer assume you’re in a heterosexual relationship.”
Daley, who has been dating 40-year-old Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black since last year, told the magazine “at some point I would love to marry and have kids.”
The top 10 in Attitude‘s Hot 100 poll includes actor Zac Efron, soccer star David Beckham and One Direction singer Zayn Malik.
