Just as parts of the Lower Mainland are recovering from the flooding that caused evacuations and heavy damage, now residents are dealing with power outages caused by strong winds.
Thousands are without power on Vancouver Island and some parts of the Lower Mainland due to the wind.
Environment Canada says heavy rain and strong winds that may cause damage are expected.
Further rainfall amounts of 30 to 40 mm are expected today as a Pacific low pressure system moves across the region.
The rain will end this evening as the low moves inland.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Homeowners in North Vancouver were preparing for the worst Wednesday night.
The heavy rain and high winds have forced the closure of the Grouse Grind, which will remain inaccessible to hikers until further notice.
