Cleanup effort continues after major flooding in North Vancouver

A colossal cleanup effort continues this morning in North Vancouver after heavy rain led to major flooding in Lynn Valley.

Work crews have been busy trying to clear water and other debris from flooded basements in dozens of homes.

More than 86 millimetres of rain came down on North Vancouver Monday night. Officials say at least five different creeks and waterways overran their banks, sending a torrent of water onto area streets. A few homes in the area had to be evacuated.

The rush of water also affected Argyle Secondary. The school had to be shut down on Tuesday over safety concerns, but it is expected to re-open for classes this morning.
