TORONTO – Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta has died at his Connecticut home at age 82.

De la Renta shaped the wardrobe of socialites, first ladies and Hollywood stars for more than four decades.

In September, lawyer Amal Alamuddin wore an Oscar de la Renta lace gown during her wedding to George Clooney.

Canada’s fashion community addressed the loss Monday night at a party opening Toronto’s Fashion Week.
