TORONTO — French actor Gerard Depardieu has revealed he worked as an escort — and robbed some of the men who paid him for sex.

In a new autobiography, Depardieu admitted he sold himself on the streets of Châteauroux and Paris when he was in his teens.

“I’ve known since I was very young that I please homosexuals,” Depardieu, 65, said. “I would ask them for money.”

Later, he admitted, he lashed out at his clients.

“I would rip some of them off. I would beat up some bloke and leave with all his money.”

Depardieu said his son Guillaume, who died in 2008 at 37, also worked as an escort.

The revelation from Ca c’est fait comme ca, written with Lionel Duroy, was published in the Sunday edition of UK newspaper Daily Mail.

Depardieu also revealed he was involved in auto theft — he served three weeks in prison for it — and once dug up bodies from grave sites to steal jewelry and clothing. He said he also picked the pockets of student protesters at anti-government demonstrations in 1968.

The actor is best known to North American audiences for his roles in 1990’s Cyrano de Bergerac and Green Card.
