VANCOUVER – Fifty-eight-year-old Jeffrey Emery was convicted of a horrifying attack in 2004 but he managed to disappear before authorities could put him behind bars.

Now Crime Stoppers needs your help to catch him.

Emery was last seen on Dec. 19, 2004 by his brother in the community of Sorrento. It was eight months earlier, on April 13, that he committed assault inside a home on 255 Riverside Drive in North Vancouver.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Emery was living at the address with his wife. During an argument he poured a bottle of hairspray over her head and set her on fire.

She suffered third degree burns to much of her body. She is still traumatized by the attack and hopes for justice.

Investigators say Emery might have changed his appearance. He’s believed to be Hepatitis C positive and requires regular medication. He also has experience working on boats and may be living in a maritime community.
