TORONTO – Motorists can expect a spike at the pumps as the weekend rolls around.
Dan McTeague from TomorrowsGasPriceToday.com says there will be a 3 cent increase for unleaded gasoline overnight.
Geopolitical events, a surprise draw in US crude stocks, and a weakened Canadian dollar are contributing to the price hike.
A refinery outage at Irving Oil Corp.’s Saint John, New Brunswick location is also causing the price to inch skyward this month.
According to Bloomberg.com, the refinery exports about half of its production to the Northeast market.
Suncor’s Montreal refinery is also undergoing 11 weeks of maintenance.
