ROCKY MOUNTAIN HOUSE – A RCMP police dive team has recovered the body of a young man whose vehicle plunged into a Central Alberta lake.
RCMP, EMS, Fire, and Search and Rescue all responded to the call of a vehicle in Abraham Lake around 4:15 Wednesday afternoon.
Civilian witnesses arrived on scene shortly after the crash and tried to gain access to the vehicle. They were unable to do so because the vehicle was completely submerged.

The RCMP police dive team removed the vehicle Thursday. The 22 year old man’s body was inside.
Police say the vehicle was traveling Westbound on Hwy 11 and left the roadway entering the lake.
Alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the incident.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or events leading up to the crash to call the Rocky RCMP detachment.
Abraham Lake is 128 km west of Rocky Mountain House.
