Man shot in broad daylight in St-Laurent

MONTREAL — Montreal police are investigating after citizens reported hearing gunshots.

Several calls were made to 9-1-1 at around 2:30 Friday afternoon, near the intersection of St-Aubin and de l’Eglise streets in the St-Laurent borough.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man in his 30s laying in the street. He had been shot several times in the upper body.

The victim was taken to hospital, where he was examined by doctors, who confirmed that despite his injuries, the man’s life was not in danger.

Crime scene investigators, as well as sniffer dogs, were on the scene late Friday afternoon. Police told Global News that the motive for the shooting was still unknown.

“Was it a drive-by? An ambush? All possible hypotheses are being looked at,” noted police spokesperson Francois Collard.
