Red Deer wins bid for 2019 Canada Winter Games

RED DEER, Ab – Red Deer has been selected as the host city for the 2019 Canada Winter Games.

The official announcement was made at 11 a.m. at Calgary’s Canada Olympic Park.

The Canada Games are the country’s largest multi-sport event.

They’re held once every two years and alternate between winter and summer games.

The event has been hosted in every province at least once since their inception in 1967, but 2019 will mark the third time they’ve been held in Alberta.

Officials had narrowed the host cities down to Red Deer and Lethbridge, but selected Red Deer in the end.
