REGINA – The BC Lions sure know how to create a buzz; on Thursday their team president guaranteed that the Lions would beat the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Sunday.

The guarantee all started when the Roughriders purchased a billboard near BC Place promoting the Riders with the slogan ‘Green is the new Orange.’

Lions president and CEO Dennis Skulsky did not take to kindly to the marketing tactics by the Riders.

“The Saskatchewan Roughriders have challenged this community,” said Skulsky. “They have purchased billboards promoting their team and they’re hosting a Rider fan party and rally in our backyard. We’re a very good football team and we’re here to proudly represent this city and this province. The best way to do that is to win on Sunday and we guarantee that will happen.”

This is the first time in the club’s 61 seasons that they have publicly announced a gurantee win night.

If the Lions fall short of their guarantee all fans in attendance can redeem their game tickets from Sunday’s tilt for a ticket to one of the club’s remaining four games.

The Riders have erected antagonistic billboards up in a number of CFL cities across Canada the last few years.
