An arrest has been made in the case of “David Mabus”, a man who has reportedly been making online death threats to people all over the world.

Montreal police announced the arrest on Wednesday, following a bombardment of complaints from across the globe.

Police have not confirmed who was arrested – but some believe the man behind the threats is Dennis Markuze, 36, of St-Laurent.

He has also used the name “Hebert Marxuxe” in his online postings.

The suspect has allegedly created accounts on Twitter and other online message boards. 

From these accounts the individual has reportedly sent insults and threats, specifically targeting atheists, scientists and journalists.

Messages often involved expletives and indicated people would be executed.

He also reportedly told online users they would be subjected to the judgement of God.

 

Wednesday’s arrest comes a week after roughly 5,000 people signed a petition demanding an investigation into the threats.
