A downed power line shut down both the northbound and southbound lanes of the QE II Friday afternoon between Innisfail and Red Deer.
RCMP were diverting northbound traffic at Innisfail. Southbound traffic was being rerouted at the MacKenzie overpass near Red Deer.
Just before 6 p.m., the city of Red Deer reported both the southbound lanes and northbound lanes had been reopened to traffic.

The closure caused major traffic delays.
