According to police, Bastar drove off with the truck and began dropping off baguettes, whole-wheat rolls and sourdough bread to random stores and businesses.

“He was delivering bread at random places,” bakery owner Joe Grimaldi told The Journal News. “It was very bizarre…They were finding bread in front of their doors.”

Bastar reportedly dished out nearly $8,000 in baked goods.

According to The Journal News, Bastar was taken to a hospital for evaluation. He faces charges of criminal possession of stolen goods.
