WATCH: NDP MPs speaks against tolls on Champlain Bridge
BROSSARD – NDP officials on the South Shore rallied their constituents early Saturday to mobilize against tolls on the future Champlain Bridge.
Brossard-La Prairie MP Hoang Mai, his fellow MPs and volunteers went door-to-door, urging residents to sign a petition and fight the federal government’s plan.
“If you speak to also Denis Coderre the Mayor of Montreal and all the mayors of Montreal, they’re all against a toll,” said Mai.
“So basically what we’ve seen is no consultation, no collaboration from the federal government with all the people that have to deal with the Champlain bridge.”
On Thursday, Prime Minister Stephen Harper reiterated the Conservative government’s firm decision on imposing tolls.
