Michasiw makes 35 saves as Mintos salvage tie with Grenadiers at Telus Cup

MOOSE JAW, Sask. – Lane Michasiw made 35 saves and helped the Prince Albert Mintos salvage a 1-1 tie with the Chateauguay Grenadiers on Tuesday at the Telus Cup men’s triple-A midget hockey championship.

Michasiw was particularly sharp in the third period, stopping all 13 shots he faced to preserve the tie.

Dakota Boutin opened the scoring for Prince Albert (1-0-1) with a power-play goal at 16:28 of the first period.

Justin Doucet tied the game for Chateauguay (0-0-2) with just 20 seconds remaining in the second with a power-play goal.

The goaltenders took over from there, with the Grenadiers’ Ryan Coughlin making 23 saves.

Later Tuesday, Toronto faced Halifax while host Moose Jaw took on Okanagan.
