Winnipeg Police are looking for a man they believe is responsible for a serious sexual assault that took place in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Sargent Park.
Officers were called to a home in the St. Matthews area early Tuesday, after a 22-year-old woman said she had been confronted by a man at around 1:30 a.m. while walking in the area of Sargent Park. The suspect pulled the victim into a yard and sexually assaulted her before she was able to break free and run home, where she told a relative what had happened. She sustained several upper and lower body injuries, and members of the Winnipeg Police Service’s Sex Crimes Unit are continuing with the investigation. No details or description of the man are available at this time, but anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact investigators at 986-6245 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
