Serious sexual assault at Sargent Park

Winnipeg Police are looking for a man they believe is responsible for a serious sexual assault that took place in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Sargent Park.

Officers were called to a home in the St. Matthews area early Tuesday, after a 22-year-old woman said she had been confronted by a man at around 1:30 a.m. while walking in the area of Sargent Park. The suspect pulled the victim into a yard and sexually assaulted her before she was able to break free and run home, where she told a relative what had happened. She sustained several upper and lower body injuries, and members of the Winnipeg Police Service’s Sex Crimes Unit are continuing with the investigation.
