HALIFAX – Two men accused of confining and sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in North Preston are facing more charges.
RCMP say Doreze Beals and Andre Gray, both 18, have been charged with offences including gang sexual assault, procuring illicit sex, assault with a weapon, uttering threats and breach of probation.
The two men were initially charged with unlawful confinement, sexual assault and human trafficking.
Beals and Gray both appeared in Dartmouth provincial court Monday, where a judge ruled that they be held in custody until Wednesday. Both men were told not to have any contact with the victim.
Cpl. Scott MacRae says officers were called to the neighbourhood around 9 p.m. to investigate a report of shots being fired.
He says officers could find no evidence of a shooting, but found the girl who alleged that she had been threatened and held against her will.
The girl told police she was confined in a basement in a building on Clarence Street for two days before she escaped.
